There are hearts full of hunger including our own and a world full of hungers. Christ is saying to each one of us, come to me. I am the one who will satisfy you. I am the one who will refresh you. I know the longings in your hearts and they matter to me.
Jesus says in Gospel taken from John 6:25-35, 'I am the bread of life.'
If we come to him we will never be hungry and if we believe in him we will never thirst.
That is his promise.
As he is the bread of life, may we be in him a source of life for others. through our presence, our attention, our acts of love.
I hope you have been enjoying the great achievements in sport witnessed in Paris over these days. The athletes bring so much joy and inspiration to our lives given their focus and dedication. God reveals his life to us in so many ways.
