Constant in love and always with us

This weekend I am in the Hawkes Bay sharing my music in Mangakuri and Havelock North.

An Anglican priest friend is keen for me to share my songs for a couple of the church communities he is associated with. Given what many people have endured down there with Cyclone Gabrielle, I am happy to support them. Of course I will be singing the song I sing with my Mum many of you will know given Sunday is Mother's Day. The song I have chosen for you to listen to today is another song I composed after meeting a young Mum in Davao City in the Philippines some years ago now. Her little boy had a fever and she was holding him outside in her arms comforting him near the house I was staying in. In our conversation, I said you are like mother's all over the world and her response was, 'it's a noble work.' I was really touched by her words. I called my next album after the song. It is track 2 if you would like to listen to it. Happy Mother's Day by the way to all mothers and carers. Mums give an incredible witness to being constant in care and being present for their children. We remember them both living and dead with love and affection.

Interestingly, the Gospel from John 14:15-21 this Sunday has Christ uttering the words, 'I will not leave you orphans.' That to me says something about his constancy and living presence always with us. May this give you comfort and reassurance today. The intimacy Christ shares with his Father, he shares with us, 'anybody who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I shall love them and show myself to them.'

Blessings on your week.
