Jesus teaches us about the dignity of marriage in the Gospel today from Mark 10:2-16. The photograph above is of my parents married in 1942 during the Second World War. They were married at St Mary's in Nelson by Fr Harry Seymour SM.
I composed a song entitled 'Mum and Dad' simply inspired by looking at their wedding photograph.
Marriages I know experience incredible joys and blessings but also many challenges.
May our hearts be filled with gratitude for our parents and for those who are married including all those reading this. Thanks for witnessing to God's love and faithfulness. And let's hold in love those who's marriages are struggling and those who are no longer together having to deal with broken dreams.

He holds a glove
She a bouquet
Yes, you guessed their wedding day
Such hopes, such dreams it seems they had
Mum and Dad
Â
His face is strong
Her eyes they shine
Face and eyes much like mine
A moment fixed within a frame
Good times and bad
Mum and Dad
Â
So many years have come and gone
So many tears and worries too
To see them there
That inner glow
Starting out so long ago
My heart is full
And its glad
to take this time for Mum and Dad
For all the love and memories shared
the life we had
I see you smile as if you knew
I'd stop a while in thanks to you
I know some hopes and dreams came true
Ones you had
Mum and Dad
So many years.....
Hold the glove
And bouquet
You look great and fine that way
Here's to all the life we had
Mum and Dad
Mum and Dad.
M
Blessings on your week. A
