Sometimes choosing one of my songs to coincide with a Gospel passage isn't always easy. Be assured I make a link in my own mind which I hope you find helpful.
Today's Gospel account from John 6:1-15 has Jesus feeding the 5000. A little boy is mentioned who has 5 Barley loaves and two fish, not much I know, but Jesus transforms the Apostle Andrew's simple observation of this little boy and his little food parcel he is willing to share into something great, as we know, and feeds the crowd as much as they want. Christ is the one who desires to satisfy our hunger. There is no limit to his self giving.
I have a song called 'Those Little Things' which I have chosen for you this week. The link I am making with the Gospel and the song is to never underestimate little things you may notice or the little things that people do for us and that we do for others. They can go a long way.
It’s those little things
That make us smile
That make our lives seems so worthwhile
That warm the winters of our hearts
And make our worries melt away
It’s those little things that can surprise
That help to open up our eyes
That make us stop and think again
Of those little things way back when
The colours of the spring outside
The summer sun upon our back
The funny things that children say
To watch them learning as they play
It’s those little things that can inspire
Like conversations round the fire
The laughter and the memories shared
All those little things from those who cared
The songs we’ve sung into the night
The peaceful glow of morning light
The knowing look and helping hand
From those we love and understand
And those little things keep coming too
If we allow them to get through
Catching us all unaware
And teaching us what matters most
Those little things
Instrumental
And those little things keep coming too
If we allow them to get through
Catching us all unaware and teaching us what matters most
Those little things
And those little things keep happening everyday.
Blessings on your week.
