A Maori Song for Our Lady of Sorrows

Here is the Maori version of 'Thanks be to God' ( With our Mother Suzanne) track 9 for you to listen to from Commissioned Songs.

I post this song for Maori Language Week today rather than Sunday because it is the feast day of Our Lady of Sorrows, the patronal feast for the Sisters of Compassion.

Suzanne Aubert was the inspirational founder of the Sisters of Compassion and a great pioneering French woman in Aotearoa/New Zealand who worked tirelessly among the Maori Community and with the poor and destitute predominantly in the Wellington region. The song features her thanksgiving prayer, 'Thanks be to God for all he has done and is doing for us'. 'Whakamoemititia Te Ariki mo nga manaakitanga' in Maori. Her cause for beatification is presently before the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Rome.
