Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace the world cannot give,
this is my gift to you is taken from this Sunday's Gospel John 14:23-29.
I am struck by Jesus saying this is my gift to you. His parting gift. There is something so personal, meaningful and essential here. And isn't it true when we experience inner peace that we can face all kinds of challenges? Jesus was encouraging his disciples for when he would no longer be with them and for what was to lie ahead and he does the same for us.
We are all essential workers called to witness to the Easter peace that Jesus has gifted us.
Peace be with you, your loved ones, our country and our people. Peace be to our world and to all whose lives are ravaged by war and conflict of any kind personal and communal.
