Little things

Jesus in the Gospel today acknowledges that those who can be trusted in little things can be trusted in great. I wonder what immediately comes to mind for you. I am thinking about following through with promises made, being present and engaged at family and community events, being grateful for the kindnesses shown and responding in kind. All those little acts of love that often pass unnoticed that mean so much. I am thinking about being consistent and authentic when the spotlight is on or off. I am considering people who have very little materially and yet have strong family ties and meaningful friendships and the generosity and hospitality they demonstrate towards others. They understand where true riches lie.
Jesus wants us to be aware of where our true riches lie.

Blessings on your week.
Those little things
It’s those little things
That make us smile
That make our lives seem so worthwhile
That warm the winters of our hearts
And make our worries melt away
It’s those little things that can surprise
That help to open up our eyes
That make us stop and think again of those little things
Way back when
The colours of the spring outside
The summer sun upon our back
The funny things that children say
To watch them learning as they play
It’s those little things that can inspire
Like conversations round the fire
The laughter and the memories shared
All those little things from those who cared
The songs we’ve sung into the night
The peaceful glow of morning light
The knowing look, the helping hand from those
We love and understand
And those little things keep coming too
If we allow them to get through
Catching us all unaware
And teaching us what matters most
Those little things
And those little things keep……..
And those little things keep happening everyday
