Tax collectors and prostitutes are making their way into the Kingdom of God before you.....

Pope Leo gave a very inspiring address at the celebration of Vespers in
Notre Dame Cathedral yesterday. I see a connection with the sentiment of Jesus' words in the Gospel this Sunday, "Tax collectors and prostitutes ( those on the peripheries) are making their way into the kingdom of God before you," speaking to those who were hard of heart, self righteous, and refusing to believe and accept him.
Pope Leo referring to the Cathedral of Notre Dame said, 'like the cathedrals of old, the Church is a place of welcome, respect, revelation and meaning for everyone. The strength of the living Church lies in welcoming those on the peripheries who already have a place in her heart; welcoming those who are far away but in reality are already near; welcoming the stranger, in whom Christ is already knocking at the door.
Jesus dined with sinners, he healed and allowed them to anoint and kiss his feet because he could see into their hearts, he acknowledged their faith, their need, their great love and desire for change. He recognizes those qualities in us however small and faltering and challenges us to see with his eyes and his heart to welcome those near to him.
Blessings on your week
The song I have opened for you this week is 'Blessed Communion'
