The Good Samaritan

In the Gospel of Luke, the Good Samaritan transcends cultural norms and taboos because he follows a deeper law inscribed in his heart: love for the stranger and compassion for a fellow human in dire need. He became a neighbour to the man who was beaten and robbed on the roadside, a behaviour that Jesus affirmed and encouraged his listeners to imitate.

It is not difficult to see the implications of the parable for ourselves and our world, welcoming the migrant, welcoming those who have a different faith tradition, welcoming and hospitality towards those who are of a different culture. This is the Christ-centred approach and a crucial approach needed in our world today.

Jesus is the Good Samaritan. He is the compassionate one who heals and binds our wounds, lifts us up and restores our life. Are we able to stop and encounter him pouring oil and wine on our wounds? Perhaps you may like to take some time to do that now.

The encounters and conversations we have with family, friends and strangers can be moments of healing and grace. The encouragement and support we give to one another in time of need can be like binding the wounds of our sister or brother and restoring them to life.

After attending Mass overseas around 20 year ago I encountered a woman who was recovering from cancer. She shared her story with me, which I deeply appreciated. Her confidence in sharing her story reassured me in my ministry. She saw Christ in me as I saw Christ in her.

I have unlocked the song, 'I see Christ in you' from the album Serenity for you to listen to and be encouraged by.

Blessings on your week.

I have discovered a whole new medium in presenting my songs by using video imagery. Please check out one of my latest songs 'Through Mary's Way' on You tube if you missed out on it last week. Click on the link below.

You don't know me but you share your life

You share your strife, your story,

I can tell, you see Christ in me.

We are strangers yet our faith is one

Our lives have come together

I can tell, you see Christ in me

Healing come to you

May Christ give you his blessing

This, this I know, this I know is true

in our sharing I see Christ in you

I am humbled by your trust in me

Your memory I'll treasure

We may never pass this way again

just a flicker of a candle flame

the moment came and still remains

in my heart I can hear you still

Healing come to you........
