A Peace the World cannot give

I heard a priest say recently that the peace Jesus is talking about in John 14:23-29 is not so much the absence of war and violence but being in right relationship with God, with other people and the environment around us.
When I was a child at home, I never liked Mum being away. It just didn’t seem the same without her. It was as if the heart was missing. She was a real homemaker.
Jesus in John’s Gospel talks very beautifully about those who love him and keep his word, he talks about making his home within us. We can say in all confidence when we are aware of God dwelling within us that he is the homemaker, he is the one who makes us feel at home with ourselves, with each other and the world. The one who is the source of our peace.
The song I have chosen for you to listen to takes it's inspiration from this Gospel and from a time of personal prayer.
This time of prayer
Is the most real of times
You enter in with your gift of peace
I hear you speak
My peace I give to you
A peace the world cannot give
Do not let your hearts be troubled
And do not be afraid
For I am here beloved
And I come to your aid
The world deceives
And I can lose my way
And view my life as false and unreal
Your Spirit calls and offers a path that’s true
A path that leads me to you
Do not let your hearts be troubled
And do not be afraid
For I am here beloved
And I come to your aid
Instrumental
I hear you speak
My peace I give to you
A peace the world cannot give
A peace the world cannot give
Blessings on your week
'We are followers of Christ. Christ goes before us. The world needs his light. Humanity needs him as the bridge that can lead us to God and his love. Help us, one and all, to build bridges through dialogue and encounter, joining together as one people, always at peace.' Pope Leo.
