Lord, teach us to pray.

Jesus answers the above request with the 'Our Father,' in today's Gospel from Luke 11:1-13

I wonder how many times we have prayed that prayer in our life time?

How often have we prayed the Lord's prayer when we have had no other words to pray?

How often have we prayed the 'Our Father' because no other prayer holds such power?

To address God as 'Our Father' identifies us as brothers and sisters in Christ sharing with him and through him the privilege of being God's adopted sons and daughters. Given this reality it makes sense that Jesus would say towards the end of our Gospel when discussing the good things that human fathers give to their children, 'how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!'

This is the cause of our hope. God is for us and not against. God's light will always overcome the darkness if we continue to trust and call on him in our need. Let us always pray in confidence the prayer our Saviour taught us. Jesus has included everything that is essential in our relationship with God and with one another.

I have just completed putting video images to a poem composed by Fr James Lyons for this year of hope, 'Pilgrims of Hope,' which he asked me to put to music. I have shared the song with you previously. I am sharing the song plus the video this time.

The presentation is on facebook and youtube. The links are below. Please share these videos with those you may know who may be encouraged and supported by them.

I am posting them today because I will be away from my computer on Sunday.

I also have the music notation of this song for those who may be interested.

Blessings on your week.
