You are the Christ

I took this photo of the Sea of Galilee. The cloud stretching across the water looks like a hand reaching out in blessing.

The title of today's sharing is of course St Peter's inspired response to Jesus asking his disciples, 'Who do you say I am?' All of us are called to make an act of faith in who Jesus is and to allow that knowledge and faith response to influence our lives and choices. It took time for the disciples to understand what the realization of Christ's divinity truly meant as it does for us.

'You are the Son' was inspired by my pilgrimage to the Holy Land. What my eyes were seeing as we visited the Sea of Galilee and gazed up at the hills was the same sea and landscape Jesus gazed upon. It seems an appropriate song for today.

Jesus referred to himself as the 'Son of Man.' Imagining Jesus asking you the question, 'Who do you say I am,' how do you respond to him today in the silence of your heart?

You are the Son

You saw the sunrise

Upon the sea of Galilee

And surveyed with human eyes

The wonder of God

You are the Son

You saw the sunset

Upon the sea and from the shore

We repeat lest we forget

This wonder is Yours

This wonder is Yours

Son of God and Son of Man

Come to us in splendour

Awake in us your holy light

And give fresh vision to our sight

From when the day unfolds

Until the day is done

Show us your face Beloved One

Look to the East and see the sunrise

And to the western skies ablaze

And with hope for all the world

Our voices we raise

Son of God and Son of Man

Come to us in splendour

Awake in us your holy light

And give fresh vision to our sight

Blessings on your week.
