Their is something profound and engaging about the line from scripture from today's Gospel taken from Matthew 17:1-9, ' And when they raised their eyes they saw no one but only Jesus.'
The disciples have just witnessed the Transfiguration on Mt Tabor and are overcome with fear by what they have seen and heard. Jesus approaches, touches them, asks them to stand up and not to be afraid. Then that is when they raise their eyes and see only him. What a moment. When you read and repeat these words perhaps even aloud today allow them to reach into those places where you maybe feeling overcome. See only Jesus healing and reassuring you to keep going.
Our Lenten journey reminds us that we are following after him and need to go down from the mountain and face the context of our lives just as he did with renewed hope and determination.
