Come to me.....and I will give your rest

Today's Gospel from Matthew 11:25-30 is one of the most comforting passages in the Scriptures.

We all face burdens in our lives. Some of course are more difficult to deal with. Hear Christ inviting you to come to him, sit in silence with him. He understands what we are going through. He shares in our burden to strengthen, comfort and heal us. We can recall that he faced the burden of the cross for our sake and cried out to his Father to take the cup of suffering from him.

Come to me, all who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.'
